Cloud Dreams: From Ideas to Innovation

In the end, everything is about ideas, and turning ideas into something real that benefits others. Cloud Computing isn’t just another buzzword: this session will look at what the industry is up to, Amazon is up to, and especially how people are innovating in the cloud. Buzzwords aside, virtualized (cloud) computing is a disruptive game changer at both technical and business levels, as you'll learn. Included in the presentation is a demo showing how to leverage Amazon Web Services.
Mike Culver joined the Developer Relations Group of Amazon Web Services in 2006.Mike brings with him fifteen years of technology leadership experience, including at other market-leading technology companies. In addition Mike has a strong background running an IT organization, with over a decade of experience in the Electrical Wholesale Distribution industry. As a Web Services Evangelist at Amazon, he helps developers take advantage of disruptive technologies that are going to change the way we think about computer applications, and the way that businesses compete.

Directions: |
From the Beltline, take the Rimrock Road exit and head in the direction away from the Alliant Energy Center towards the Badger Bowl. Turn LEFT at the stop lights onto East Badger Road. You will pass right in front of the Badger Bowl. Take the first LEFT onto Nob Hill Road. You will go in a half circle winding to the right. You will see Holmes Tire on the right side of the street. The WEA Trust building is the next building. Park in the large parking lot between WEA Trust and Holmes Tire. Go to the back left corner of the parking lot towards the entrance that has dumpsters. That is the door you will need to enter. Someone from WEA will let you into the building and escort you to the room where the presentation is taking place.
