The first thing you need to do when making a concrete patio is to measure the area where you want your patio to be. You will need to mark the perimeter of your patio with stakes and string. Then, use a tape measure to find the square footage of your patio area. Once you have your measurement, multiply the length by the width to get the total square footage.
Now that you know how much concrete you will need, it’s time to prepare the area for pouring. This involves excavating the area to ensure that it is level and removing any vegetation or debris. Once you have a clean and level surface, you can begin installing forms. Forms are used to create the shape of your patio and can be made from wood or metal. Be sure to level the forms before you begin pouring the concrete.
Now it’s time to mix and pour your concrete! Follow the directions on your concrete mix to ensure that you are mixing it correctly. Once your concrete is mixed, start pouring it into the forms. Be sure to smooth out the surface as you go. You can use a trowel or float to do this.
After your patio has been poured, you will need to wait for it to cure. This can take up to 28 days, so be patient! During this time, you should avoid walking or driving on your patio so that the concrete can fully cure. After your patio has cured, you can remove the forms and enjoy your new outdoor space!
